A woman applying for a job in a Florida lemon grove seemed to be far too qualified for the job. I, recognizing how powerful words are and realizing that mine own words have endured almost four hundred years, suggest the President remove his teleprompter to Afghanistan and let the Taliban taste the tepid broth of his oration.  That seems his remedy to addressing the niggling problems in the U.S. so should Afghanistan be the recipient of any less?

How many of you reading this can shoot hoops like Michael Jordan?  How many of you can sink putts like Tiger Woods?  How many of you can solve relativistic mathematical equations like Albert Einstein?  How many of you can transplant hearts like Doctor DeBakey?  How many of you understand crystallography like the Nobel winner Linus Pauling? How many of you have won a Nobel Prize?  Can you write like J. K. Rowling?  How many of you women photograph as well as Angelina Jolie?  How many of you men come off as macho as the young Harrison Ford or as handsome as Brad Pitt? 

How many of you aren’t reading this article because you can’t read.  How many of you didn’t graduate from high school?  How many of you have never played a sport.  How many of you have never been out of the neighborhood or city in which you live.  How many of you are on drugs?  How many of you have committed a criminal act.  How many of you are murderers? 

Men are not created equal except in the eyes of the law and then, only in countries that recognize the individual’s right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  We have equal rights, equal rights to succeed or equal rights to fail or equal rights to achieve whatever level of success in life that we desire and are willing to work for.  We do not have a right to achieve a level of success based on someone else’s efforts. 

How many of you believe that taking money from the Einstein’s, the Jordan’s, the DeBakey’s the Ford’s and the Rowling’s of this world and giving it to the willfully uneducated, the willfully unemployed, the dropouts, from society, criminals, and drug addicts will result in equality?  How many of you believe that cash will stop a drug addiction rather than fueling it?  How many of you believe that cash will forward an education rather than supplying the means to hang out at the mall?  How many of you believe that cash is the answer to the problems of people unwilling to put in the effort to be part of a productive society?  How many of you believe that cash will solve the problems of the professional poor, the voluntary homeless, the drugged out users and the criminal element of society? 

The truth is that Marxism, communism and socialism, all of them fueled by the quixotic concept of “spreading the wealth,” have been tried for centuries around the world and have failed or are failing in every instance.  Their philosophy cannot mandate or create equality no matter how appealing it sounds (and it always sounds better to those who have nothing to share).  Witness the demise of the USSR, Eastern Germany, North Korea, Cuba and the slow but progressive demise of Sweden, France, England, and Holland. Imagine Venezuela in a few years. Even think about our neighbors to the north and where they will be in a decade. 

Now, picture the success of capitalistic South Korea in the sixty years since the Korean War.  Do you own anything that’s LG, Young Chang or Kia?  Picture the success of China that, while claiming a communistic government, has embraced capitalism with fervor reminiscent of the post-WWII United States.  Pick up anything you’ve purchased recently and check where it’s made.  Probably, China. 

Equality cannot be mandated because each person is an individual and different.  People come in all shapes, sizes and colors.  They have different levels of talent, ambition, pragmatism, integrity and so on.  No law can equalize that.  Law can only provide equal rights and equal opportunity.  

After understanding that equality cannot be mandated by any government because people inherently are not equal do you still want a Marxist for your president?  Do you want a man to preside over this country who looks at two centuries of continued failure of a flawed philosophy and yet continues to push that philosophy that ultimately will demoralize and cripple our country?  If you do, you are already below the “equal line” and you’re looking for a handout that will come from the work of people more ambitious and more motivated that you currently are.  

If you’re hand’s out it probably means you voted for our current president because he promised to give you money without work, wealth without effort and dignity without being dignified.  He promised to enrich your lives with the hard work of another person.  In essence, he is enslaving the productive so that you can prosper at their expense.  He, of all people, should know better. 

You will not be made prosperous, respected or whole with money legally stolen from the productive and “spread” among the nonproductive.  Your position in life is not someone else’s doing.  You, and only you, are the master of your future and you and only you can make yourself whole. 

Ultimately, socialism will leave you worse off than you have ever been.

Dear President Obama,

Today I read of your administrations plan to re-define September 11 as a National Service Day. Sir, it’s time we had a talk.

During your campaign, Americans watched as you made mockery of our tradition of standing and crossing your heart when the Pledge of Allegiance was spoken. You, out of four people on the stage, were the only one not honoring our tradition. We noticed.

During one of your many speeches, Americans heard you say that you intended to visit all 57 states. We all know that Islam, not America , has 57 states.  We noticed.

When President Bush leaned over at Ground Zero and gently placed a flower on the memorial, you tossed your flower onto the pile without leaning over. We noticed.

Every time you apologized to other countries for America ’s position on an issue we have wondered why you don’t share our pride in this great country. When you have heard foreign leaders berate our country and our beliefs, you have not defended us. We noticed.

When your pastor of 20 years damned America and said that 9/11 was ” America ’s chickens coming home to roost” and you denied having heard recriminations of that nature, we wondered how that could be. When you later disassociated yourself from that church and pastor because it was politically expedient to do so, we noticed.

When you announced that you would transform America , we wondered why. With all her faults, America is the greatest country on earth. Sir, if not for America and the people who built her, you wouldn’t be sitting in the White House now. Prior to your election to the highest office in this country, you were a senator from Illinois and from what we can glean from the records available, not a remarkable one. We noticed.

All through your campaign and even now, you have surrounded yourself with individuals who are basically unqualified for the positions you appointed them to. Worse than that, the majority of them are people who, like you, bear no special affection or respect for this country and her traditions. We noticed.

You are 9 months into your term and every morning millions of Americans wake up to a new horror heaped on us by you. You seek to saddle working Americans with a health care/insurance reform package that, along with cap and trade, will bankrupt this nation. We noticed.

We seek, by protesting, to let our representatives know that we are not in favor of these crippling expenditures and we are labeled “un-American”, racist”. We wonder how we are supposed to let you know how frustrated we are. You have attempted to make our protests seem isolated. We noticed.

On September 11, 2001 there were no Republicans or Democrats, only Americans. And we all grieved together and helped each other in whatever way we could. The attack on 9/11 was carried out because we are Americans. And we noticed.

There were many of us who prayed that as a black president you could help unite this nation even more. In six months you have done more to destroy this nation than anyone since 9/11. You have failed us. We noticed.

September 11 is a day of remembrance for all Americans. You propose to make 9/11 a “National Service Day”. While we know that you don’t share our reverence for 9/11, we pray that history will report your proposal as what it is…a disgrace.

When Americans come together again, it will be to remove you from office. You have made a mockery of our Constitution and the office that you hold. You have embarrassed and slighted us in foreign visits and policy.

We have noticed all these things. We will deal with you.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the “new rich.”  It’s often quoted in French, nouveau riche, by those of seasoned money, prigs and those with their noses to heaven.  There is also a “new powerful” (nouveau puissant).

The new rich, unaccustomed to wealth often fail spectacularly.  It can and should be assumed the new powerful will do the same.

President Obama has a taste of power that none of his ancestors has ever experienced before and unlike “old money” have not passed on the wisdom to control the euphoria of either wealth or power.  He is the “new powerful.”  Ten months into his Presidency he is not wearing his power well.

I hope; actually I pray that he will take advice from an old sage, Benjamin Franklin, and take this advice to heart.  Franklin said, ““Well done is better than well said.”  So far Obama’s presidency has been marked only by “well said.”

Let Me Be Clear.  I think I’ve finally found the answer to the question you asked me on an almost daily basis when I was a child. The answer was all around me and I only had to open my eyes and observe. I’ve seen communism destroy the middle class leaving a small but all-powerful elite, an overwhelming pitiful lower class and an extinct middle class. I’ve seen socialized medicine globally degrade medical care, ration services, cheat seniors of years of enjoyable life and bankrupt countries. I’ve seen mouths tethered shut by censorship that began as political correctness and evolved as a mechanism for the government to control the masses. I’ve seen directed revenge and abuse of power by pedagogues and narcissists. I’ve seen how corruption works and I’ve finally found an answer. You asked me if my friends all jumped off a cliff would I? Mom, let me be clear. The answer is, “yes.”

What He Said:

1.  “Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this Presidency.”  He also said that as part of that transparency he will publish all pending legislature (except sensitive military, etc) on the web for five days before he puts his signature to a bill so the public has a chance to read what will be impacting them.

2.  “Public officials need to draw on what people know and that’s why as of today I’m directing members of my administration to find new ways of tapping the knowledge and experience of ordinary Americans.”

3.  “—because when I am president meetings where laws are written will be more open to the public.  No more secrecy.  That’s a commitment I make to you as President.”

What He Did

1.  Rushed the original Medical bill through the House and demanded a vote before any of the legislators had a chance to read it.  Later refused to put the bill up on the Internet for 72 hours for perusal by the public.  Is still refusing to put the legislative language version on the Internet.

2.  Showed absolutely no interest in tapping the knowledge and experience of “ordinary” Americans.  Ignored the townhalls that truly reflected the will of the people.  Polls showed that the majority of Americans are satisfied with their current insurance and DO NOT WANT A PUBLIC OPTION.  In addition the Democrats labeled those that attended the townhalls as “organized,” destructive, terrorists, malcontents and Nazis.

 3.  Increased the number of closed-door meetings.  In fact, the merging of the House and Senate medical bills is being done in complete secrecy behind closed doors yet this bill happens to impact the American public probably more than any other bill in recent history.

There is clearly a disconnect between what he says and what he does.   Just a reminder, Sir.  Half-truths, partial information and careful omissions are just as much of a lie as the big bold one.

Our President’s word should be good; and it’s not.  Our President’s intentions for this country should be clear and they are not.  I fear he is rapidly losing the trust of the people and it is, unfortunately, a deserved loss.

There exists a man who is the most powerful in the world.  His words command millions and influence billions more.  This man must stand strong and lead his people with faith and strength in good times and bad times and, yes, even in the face of war. 

 We expect this man to stand strong in the face of adversity.  Stand strong in the face of plague and pestilence.  Stand strong in the face of war and terrorism.  Stand strong against the enemies of freedom, of our country and our people. 

 This man is President Obama and he got his feeling hurt by opinions expressed by Fox News Channel.  And unlike the strong man we expect who would ignore the hecklers as a minor irritant, He, with all his power and position and command of the peons beneath him will smear and ultimately silence Fox. 

 After all, how dare they?
